I've had to return my Cannon Rebel to Rent2Own, but that is really not a bad thing because the reason I returned it is that we are buying a new home! Well, the home isn't new, but it's new to us. After we are settled in, I'll be able to get the camera back.
We are putting a down payment on a three bedroom, two bath, mobile home. It was just recently renovated, has a nice shaded deck, and a small back yard for the dogs. It's in a quiet neighborhood, but close to tons of stores. It is also closer to my daughter-in-law's place which will make it easier when we babysit. You can see pictures of the house here.

Hello and Taylor Swift
I haven't been here for a while. Just been too wrapped up in work and playing guitar. I've been thinking about great art and a prefect example just dropped last weekend. Taylor Swift's 'folklore' album not only has no bad songs on it, every song is excellent. She tells a story with each song. It needs repeated listening to pick up on everything. My favorite albums are the ones that demand active listening. They require you to think and entertain you at the same time. Their songs get stuck in your head ; you go to sleep and wake up with the songs in your mind. 'folklore' is one of these albums. I can't say enough good things about it because I haven't come across and album like this in years. It brings me back to my college years when my friends and I would spend hours listening and talking about great albums, analyzing each song, yet enjoying and appreciating the musicality and artistry of them. 'Blood on the Tracks', 'Born to Run', 'Band on the Run', 'Graceland'. This album
Photography, Telescopes, and Holy Shit!
Holy shit it's been a long time since I've posted a journal entry! It helps that I've finally gotten a new laptop. My old MacBook had just become too slow to be usable. The Linux laptop was too big (17" screen) and heavy, and would over-heat and power off randomly. I sold some stock and my wife got a sweet gaming laptop and I got myself a pretty close to top of the line MacBook Pro. It's the latest model, 15" screen, 16GB RAM, 2.2 GHz Intel Core 6 cores, 500GB solid state drive. It kicks ass!
I haven't done much photography lately, mainly due to lack of a decent camera. I will use my iPhone camera when I see an interesting shot, and it take
A Loss In The (Ex)Family
Those of you who have followed me here for a while know that I was once married to a woman named Holly. She is the mother of my two children. There was a whole bunch of drama when we divorced that some of you were privy to. That was a long time ago. The pain, hurt and anger have faded. The children are grown. People have remarried. Life has gone on. Except for one.
Holly died a week ago. She had been very ill for several years so it wasn't a surprise. Sudden, yes. Surprise, no.
My first concern, of course, is with my kids. They have had to deal with their mother's declining health for a long time. This was very stressful, especially f
What's Been Happening
I haven't written a journal entry here in a while so I thought I'd write one to catch you all up.
I started a new job in September. I've worked as a Unix Systems Administrator for the better part of the past 10 years. When I lost my job two years ago, I was out of work for six months before I found work as a Field Engineer, fixing servers and such. It was an OK job, but paid a lot less than what I was making before. Also, the office was small, with just 4 or 5 of us covering 300 sq mile area centered around Omaha, NE.
Besides the pay, I had to deal with an office of middle-aged, male cry babies. Most of them would complain about pretty
