I've done one photo of the moon so far. My issue with the scope is that it is too jittery. I need a better mount I think. Either that or the scope is just not that good. I haven't decided if I want to spend more money for a better scope or not.
It's probably the mount. A good equatorial mount is the basis for all good astrophotography. I would invest in that first. The rule of thumb, at least for non-AP dedicated mounts, is to divide the mount's payload capacity in half to get the upper limit for AP. So if your mount has a payload capacity of 20 lbs. (not including counter weights), you can reasonably expect to get steady astro photos with 10 lbs. of gear on your mount.
Thanks for the info. I will figure out what I need. My tripod is pretty lightweight and doesn't seen too sturdy so I will need to get a better one.
